MARCH 23/2013 -- Went out to netley creek(EOM) fished the early morning hours till about 2pm
and then headed to Chalet beach..
netley creek is all chopped up but the ice is thick this year that it's safe and ok to fish the border line of the chopped ice.. i found some good depth (around 10 feet of water) , netley creek mouth is known for its good pike fishing in march.. (its a feeder creek to the red river,and pike find these area to spawn in the spring)
so march always host big pikes in these area's ... so good old tip ups and herrings
(get them at youngs food market). set them up in 5 fow and bam!! got a 41" pike.. and lots of 30" pike too..
fished Chalet beach in the mid afternoon till dark.. the snow is deep and trails are deep ruts, so 4x4 is a no good unless you have a lifted jacked up truck.. so we heard the bite was good just off the shores of chalet beach and its a little walk with sled and gear,, walked out about 200 yards from shore and drilled. (need extention for your auger to get through the ice.. its thick thick ice this year.. but never caught master angler walleyes but we caught lots of PERFECT eatting size.. need more info on my trips or others don't be shy and drop me a message at outlet@live.ca or go to facebok on the link on the home page..
MARCH 21/2013-- EAST SHOAL LAKE.. HEAVY DEEP RUTS.. Travel in convoy. perch bite is getting heavy.. talked to few friends that live in the area.. went out yesterday and got 30.
they got on the lake from the west-side. got stuck twice near entrance, but after that it was fine..
March 19/2013 --- nothing much happening due to blizzard conditions... hope weather clears up soon!! not much time left till ice fishing is over... but guys trout fishing is open year round.. be safe.
RED RIVER---- ITS A NO GO!! STAY OFF ICE THE CUTTERS ARE FULL FORCE!!
BUT YOU CAN ICE FISH AT THE LOCKS AT LOCKPORT, USING THE FLOOD GATES HILL ENTRANCE..
